LOCALLY GROWN AND PRESSEDAceite Alzina is a family-run operation near the small town of Canyelles in the Catalonian countryside. The farm has 3600 olive trees of the Arbequina variety, an olive species local to Catalonia and one of 200 Spanish olive species. We care for the trees year round in preparation for the harvest in the autumn. The olives are not pressed on-site, but brought to a local press within two days of being picked.
The Arbequina species is known for its mild taste which is characterised by an almond aroma. Since our farm is located only 12 kilometres from the coast, our olive oil is influenced in its taste by the mild maritime weather and the colder temperatures from the mountainous hinterland.

Olive oil is an important ingredient in the Mediterranean diet. It can be used in many dishes and is a great source of healthy fats. Our olive oil is extra virgin, which means it was pressed cold, and this is beneficial because it ensures that the high-quality nutrients found in olives, such as polyphenols, antioxidants and vitamins, remain in the oil. Our oil has an acid degree of 0.4%, which is evidence that it was harvested and pressed with care. |
